| Etymology of specific epithet |
Named for Professor Doctor Majid Samii, the world famous Iranian neurosurgeon and medical scientist. He is currently the President of the International Neuroscience Institute (INI). In 2014, he was named the world top neurosurgeon and garnered Golden Neuron Award by World Academy of Neurological Surgery. Professor Majid Samii was born (19 June 1937) in Rasht, the capital city of Guilan Province, the region where the type locality (Sefidroud River) of the new species is located.
